Store diagnostics: separate checks from business outcomes

A hypothetical scenario

This is a diagnostic example, not a customer story: orders decrease while traffic from one region drops. Traffic alone cannot calculate lost revenue or establish an outage.

Check instrumentation, filters and time ranges first, then monitor history. A checking location’s network result does not represent every customer region. HTTP success does not prove a cart, payment provider and callback all work.

Keep evidence distinct

Analytics shows received referrers and pageviews. Uptime monitors observe configured responses. Agents report host resources. Orders and payment outcomes require business data or instrumented events; the platform cannot know unreported revenue.

Compare these sources by application and time while preserving unknown values. Small order samples, missing events and incomplete periods do not support definite conversion conclusions.

Verify releases and recovery

Define critical targets, notification channels and tests before a release. Afterwards, verify pages, APIs and actual business flows. A recovery message only means the configured check recovered; it is not a complete transaction test.

Share only necessary aggregates, excluding customer identifiers, order URLs and private paths. Start with the monitoring reference, then assess impact using your business evidence.
